Holography Specialist Istvan Sandor

Istvan Sandor began his career working in recordkeeping and archiving. While serving aboard the USS Yamato, he began working on a recreational device he called a “holography room,” where solid-holograms could be used to recreate a relaxing (or not) environment of a person's choice. His work was severely damaged when the Yamato took a hit from an enemy bomb that was disguised as a probe, and the Yamato was sent back to dock for extensive repairs. Sandor was also severely damaged, but recovered; although to this date he has not grown back his eyebrows or eyelashes, even though his arms and legs have been regrown.

While Sandor was in drydock, he met Gussar "Gus" Maaha, who had just been signed up to join the Trouble's crew. Intrigued by the Holography Room project, Gus convinced Sandor to apply for transfer to the Trouble. Gus also told Captain Shimbo, who, hearing of the project, was eager for it to be tried out as a full-time project. Sandor signed on, and was given a room right next to the Captain's ready room in which to build his project. “Leakage” from this room into the Ready Room explains, to a large extent, why the Ready Room can be changed to numerous different configurations.

Sandor serves as a navigator when one is needed. He is known for making the best grilled-cheese sandwiches in the Alpha Quadrant.
