Dr. Ji, known as "Ratty" by the Captain, hails from the Itwa Ahf warren on Hiffa (a.k.a Gamma Auriga 6). One of several of the crew's "first in Starfleet" members recruited by the captain, she originally had planned on an academic career. Between being stared at and having to do too much paper-grading, when she heard about the commissioning of the Trouble, she nearly begged to become part of the crew. She and the captain had met each other in their Academy days while on break, and had agreed that indeed, there was "nothing half so much worth doing as messing about in boats."

Despite claims that her "bedside manner" is too clinical, Dr. Ji is competent enough to treat all species currently on board, and what she doesn't know she can readily find out. Having once been a teacher, she is very adept at recognizing "task-related hypochondria." She will "treat" you for anything you claim is wrong with you, but you'll regret it!
